What teams we have seen this Fall! Jill Ellis has the USWNT rolling towards the 2019 World Cup. UMBC, Loyola, and University of Maryland have all had fantastic seasons and NCAA bids should be in the mail. McDonogh girls and boys battled their way to hard-fought championships. Let’s not forgot the Dons of Loyola Blakefield and their undefeated season. Congratulations, as well, to Christos and its Werner Fricker Cup victory. And DC United has been the darling of the MLS this season with their miraculous comeback led by Wayne Rooney and their new stadium, Audi Field, is the envy of the league.
“I’m constantly being asked about individuals. The only way to win is as a team. Football is not about one or two or three stars players.” -Pelé
Good news in that ALI M. ANDREZEJEWSKI has accepted appointment to the Hall of Fame committee. Please remember that all submissions for 2019 nominations are due to Tom Bailey (OTBailey@msn.com) by November 30, 2018.
We have had a very successful 2018 with tailgate events hosted at UMBC and Loyola University. More exciting events are planned for the 2019 calendar year, including more tailgate events and our 1st Annual Lee Hood Open golf tournament, so dust off your golf clubs! Stay tuned for more to come.
While we are on the subject of new upcoming activities, perhaps WALKING FOOTBALL may be an option to consider? What is walking football? It is soccer played on smaller fields with no running (a violation of this results in a free kick for the opposing team). It’s great exercise with an eye towards the beautiful game. In the UK, they have over 40,000 registered walking footballers. Check it out here Or Watch Video below
